About Hivly
A small, independent reference for the bills and payments of a household in the UAE, worked out from the documents that set them.
What Hivly is
Hivly answers the questions people in the UAE ask when a bill or a payment looks wrong: how a DEWA, ADDC or SEWA bill is built, what end-of-service gratuity the Labour Law gives, how much a landlord in Dubai may raise the rent, what a month of Salik or Parkin will cost. Each answer is a calculator with the working shown, an explanation, and the official documents behind it.
The name comes from the hive. A hive collects, checks and keeps what it has gathered; Hivly does the same with figures. Every rate on the site is taken from the tariff, law, decree or circular that sets it, recorded with a link and the date it was checked, and updated when it changes.
Who runs it
Hivly is written and built by Syed Shehzad Gillani, a software developer based in the UAE. He writes the calculators, reads the tariffs and laws they rest on, and checks each figure against its source before a page is published. He is not a lawyer or an accountant, and the site does not offer legal or financial advice. Where a question needs one, the page says so and points to the authority that can answer it.
What Hivly is not
Hivly is not an official site. It is not run by, paid by or connected to DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, the Department of Energy, Dubai Municipality, RERA or the Dubai Land Department, MOHRE, the RTA, Salik or Parkin. Their names appear only so you know whose figures a page explains. When your bill, contract or an authority’s own calculator gives a different answer, theirs is the one that counts, and we would like to hear about the difference.
How it is paid for
The site is free to use and has no accounts. It is paid for by advertising served by Google AdSense. Advertisers do not choose topics, see pages before they are published or influence what a page says. The privacy policy explains how the ads use cookies.
How the figures are checked
The short version: primary sources only, every figure dated, corrections logged in public. The long version is the editorial and methodology policy.
