UTM Builder
Add utm_source, medium, campaign, term and content tags to any link, copy the result, and keep a running list of the campaign URLs you build this session.
This UTM builder adds Google Analytics campaign tags to any link so you can see which source, medium and campaign brought each visitor. Enter your website URL and the utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign values — plus term and content when you need them — and the tagged link updates as you type. As a campaign URL builder it keeps existing query strings and hash fragments intact, and encodes spaces the way analytics tools expect. Every link you build can be saved to a session list, so this utm tag maker doubles as a quick scratchpad while you tag a batch of URLs. It all runs in your browser.
Source, medium and campaign are the three required tags. Term is for paid-keyword tracking and content is for A/B testing two links that point to the same page.
How it works
- 1
Paste your link and set the source
Enter the page URL, then the campaign source and medium — say newsletter and email, or google and cpc.
- 2
Name the campaign
Add a campaign name, and optionally a term for paid keywords or content to tell two versions of a link apart.
- 3
Copy or save the link
Copy the tagged URL, or add it to the session list to keep building more before you copy them all.
Instant & 100% private — nothing is uploaded
Everything runs locally in your browser. Your code, text and files are processed on your own device and are never sent to a server — so there are no upload waits, no size limits from us, and nothing is ever stored or logged.
Frequently asked questions
- What are the required UTM parameters?
- Source, medium and campaign are the three that matter most; analytics tools group traffic by them. Term and content are optional extras for paid search and A/B testing.
- What’s the difference between utm_term and utm_content?
- utm_term records the paid keyword that triggered the ad. utm_content tells two links to the same page apart — for example a header button versus a footer link.
- Will the tags break a URL that already has a query string?
- No. This campaign url builder detects an existing ? and appends the utm tags with & instead, and it keeps any #fragment at the end.
- Are the saved links stored anywhere?
- Only in the page while it’s open. The session list clears when you close or reload the tab; nothing is sent to a server.
- Should UTM values be lowercase?
- It’s a good habit. Analytics treats Email and email as different mediums, so pick one casing and stick to it across every link this utm link generator makes.
