Frequently asked questions
- How many boxes of flooring do I need?
- Divide the room area by the coverage printed on the box, add a waste allowance for cuts, then round up to whole boxes. A 12 by 15 room is 180 square feet; at 20 square feet a box with 10% waste, that's 10 boxes.
- How much flooring waste should I allow?
- Eight to ten percent covers offcuts on a straight lay. A diagonal or herringbone pattern makes more cuts, and so does a room with lots of corners, so raise the figure for those.
- Should I buy an extra box?
- It's worth keeping one spare box from the same batch. Colours shift between production runs, so a later top-up might not match the floor you laid.
- How accurate is the box count?
- The count is exact for the room area and the coverage you enter, with waste added for cuts. Diagonal and herringbone lays and rooms with many corners make more offcuts, so raise the waste for those and keep one spare box from the same batch.
