Frequently asked questions
- How many rolls of wallpaper do I need?
- Divide the room perimeter by the roll width to get the strips you need, then divide the roll length by the wall height to get the strips each roll yields, and divide one by the other. The calculator does this and rounds up to whole rolls.
- Why does the pattern repeat use more wallpaper?
- A patterned paper has to line up between strips, so you trim off up to one repeat from every drop to match it. The bigger the repeat, the fewer full strips a roll yields, which is why a large-print paper needs more rolls than a plain one for the same wall.
- Should I subtract doors and windows?
- Only large ones make a real difference, because you still hang full-height strips beside a window and reuse the offcuts. Enter the count and each is taken off as about 15 square feet of wall, which trims a strip or two without leaving you short.
- What is the difference between a US roll and a Euro roll?
- A European roll is about 0.53 m wide and 10 m long. American paper is usually sold as a double roll around 20.5 inches wide and 33 feet long. Both presets are built in, and every figure is editable to match the roll you actually buy.
- How accurate is this wallpaper quantity calculator?
- The strip method counts whole floor-to-ceiling drops, so it rounds up and is close for a straight-walled room. Angled walls, a big pattern repeat and lots of corners waste more, so keep the waste allowance and buy all rolls from one batch number so the colour matches.
