- How does the strikethrough stay when I paste it?
- The line is added as a combining character that sits on each letter; strikethrough uses the combining long stroke overlay, U+0336, layered onto every character. Because the mark is part of the text rather than a formatting setting, it survives a copy and paste into places that would normally drop bold or italic.
- Why does the line look slightly uneven on some letters?
- Combining marks are drawn per character, so on letters with descenders or unusual widths the line can sit a touch high or low. It still reads clearly as struck through or underlined; the effect is cosmetic and varies a little by font and device.
- Can I underline text instead of crossing it out?
- Yes. Switch to the underline style and each letter carries a combining low line instead of a stroke through the middle. It gives a plain underline in captions and chats that have no underline button, and it pastes as real text just like the strikethrough.
