How do I split a picture for an Instagram grid?
Add your image, choose grid mode, then set how many columns and rows you want, usually three across. The tool crops the picture to fit and slices it into equal squares. Download them all and post the tiles so they line up into one large image on your profile.
In what order do I post the grid tiles?
Post them bottom-right first and top-left last. Instagram shows your newest post in the top-left of the grid, so working backwards makes the tiles fall into the right places and rebuild the full picture.
What is carousel mode for?
It cuts a wide or panoramic photo into equal panels that you add to a single carousel post. Followers swipe from one panel to the next, so a landscape or long scene reads across the whole post instead of being squeezed into one frame.
What size are the tiles and panels?
Grid tiles export as 1080 by 1080 pixel squares. Carousel panels export at 1080 pixels wide in either a 4:5 portrait or a 1:1 square shape, which are the sizes Instagram shows at full quality.
