Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a line diff and a word diff?
A line diff compares whole lines and marks which were added or removed, which is best for code and lists. A word diff looks inside changed lines: if one side reads "the cat sat" and the other "the dog sat", it flags only "cat" and "dog" rather than the whole line. That makes small prose edits easy to spot.
Can it compare long documents?
Yes. Because the comparison runs on your own device, you can paste long documents on both sides without an upload step or a size cap. Larger texts take a moment more to compare but the highlighting is the same.
Does it change my text?
No. The diff only reads and highlights; it never edits either side. You can copy whichever version you want, but the tool leaves both texts exactly as you pasted them.
