IBAN Validator
Validate, check or verify any IBAN in seconds: confirm the length, country format and check digits are correct, and see the bank code, account number and — for German accounts — the BIC and bank name.
Check whether an IBAN is correct before you trust it or send money. This IBAN validator confirms the country length, the account structure and the MOD-97 check digit, then reads back the bank code and account number. For German IBANs it also shows the BIC and bank name.

Each check shows a tick or a cross: country length, bank code, account checksum and the IBAN check digits.
- 3
Copy the details
For a valid IBAN you can copy the formatted IBAN or, where available, the BIC.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I check if an IBAN is valid?
- Paste the IBAN above. The tool instantly checks its length, country format and the mod-97 check digit, showing a tick or a cross for each. If every check passes, the IBAN is valid.
- What does the IBAN check digit prove?
- It is a mod-97 checksum over the whole IBAN. If it matches, the IBAN has no typo in any character. It does not prove the account exists, only that the number is internally consistent.
- Why is there no BIC for my IBAN?
- The bank name and BIC are shown for German accounts, where an official free bank directory is available. For other countries the IBAN is still fully validated, but a BIC is not shown.
