Frequently asked questions

Why do small payments cost so much?
At high card APRs, a low payment barely beats the monthly interest, so the balance falls slowly and interest piles up. Paying more each month cuts both the time and the cost sharply.
What if my payment never clears the card?
If the payment is below the first month’s interest, the balance can never fall. The calculator flags this so you know to raise the payment.
Why does paying only the minimum take so long?
The minimum is often a small percentage of the balance, barely above the monthly interest, so the balance drops very slowly. A fixed larger payment each month clears the card far faster and costs much less.
